The diode laser produces bundled light of just one wavelength (808nm), which releases its energy in the form of heat in the hair root, destroying it. In comparison, IPL technology, for example, produces bundled light of different wavelengths, which can cause unwanted effects as well as the desired effect. The result of a laser treatment is therefore easier to predict and better reproducible.

Brown and black hair can be removed very effectively with the diode laser. Very light or red hair cannot be treated. Medium blonde hair can be removed but is less effective. Light to light brown skin types (types I-III according to Fitzpatrick) can be treated safely with the diode laser.

The treatment is carried out with a LinScan, the most versatile diode laser on the market. Before the treatment, the skin should not be exposed to the sun for 2 weeks, i.e. it should not be tanned. Furthermore, the hair should not be epilated (waxed or plucked). After the treatment, the skin may briefly become red and there may be small swellings at the hair roots. Both of these will disappear after a few hours. The skin should not be exposed to the sun for at least 2 weeks after the treatment.
